    At Your Story Counselling, I provide support for those experiencing infertility, fertility treatment, grief and loss and relationships problems. I address both the emotional and physical challenges that accompany this journey. For any medical inquiries, I kindly direct you back to your medical practitioner.
  • 2. What approaches or techniques do you use in your sessions?
    I employ a range of therapeutic approaches, including Humanistic/Person Centred Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Somatic and Polyvagal Practices, Mindfulness-Based Approaches, and Integrative Therapy.

    No, a doctor's referral is not required to seek counselling services.
  • 5. Are you open for counselling appointments on weekends or evenings?
    Yes, I understand the importance of flexibility. Counselling sessions are available on weekends and evenings.
  • 6. How much are the fees for counselling?
    Counselling sessions are $120 per hour.
  • 7. How long does a typical counselling session last?
    Counselling sessions typically last for 1 hour.
  • 8. Do you offer online counselling options or only in-person sessions?
    Yes, I offer online counselling sessions via Teams and Zoom. This allows me to support my clients in both regional and city areas. It also saves you travel time and allows you to work with me from the privacy of your own home.
  • 9. How many sessions might be needed to address a particular issue?
    The number of counselling sessions required varies for each individual.
  • 10. Is counselling confidential?
    Absolutely. Your discussions, whether online or in person, are 100% confidential. Exceptions include situations where there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, court requests, or if you provide written consent for information sharing.
  • 11. What happens in the first counselling session, and what should I expect?
    The first session includes a welcoming conversation, administrative details, a discussion on confidentiality, exploration of your concerns, background information, assessment of current functioning, and goal setting.
  • 12. Can I involve my family or partner in the counselling sessions?
    Certainly, I encourage family or partner involvement in the counselling process if you wish.
  • 13. How can I cancel or reschedule an appointment, and what is your cancellation policy?
    Payment is required prior to each session via direct deposit. If you need to cancel or reschedule, your payment can be used as credit for your next session. I understand that life happens, and I aim to provide flexibility in such situations.
  • 14. What qualifications and experience do you have?
    Emma Austin, holds: Diploma of Counselling from the Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors Bachelor of International Studies Master of Business Administration Membership with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) The completion of ongoing Continuous Professional Development courses (CPD) Lived experience with infertility and the problems that go with it.
