Terms and Conditions

Approach:

At Your Story Counselling, I acknowledge the innate potential within each client to grow towards their true self. My role is not to provide advice or solutions but to collaboratively work with you, fostering self-understanding and tapping into your inner resources. Through heightened self-awareness and self-trust, our aim is to facilitate constructive changes, guiding you towards a more satisfying and meaningful life.

Confidentiality:

All information shared during our sessions is treated with the utmost confidentiality. However, confidentiality may be breached under specific circumstances:

  • If there is a perceived risk of serious harm to yourself or others.

  • If court intervention necessitates access to counselling records.

  • If information is formally requested by another party or organization, with your written consent.

Sessions:

I recommend an initial commitment to 3 sessions, following which we will reassess and negotiate further sessions as needed. Typically, we meet weekly for 1-hour sessions; however, the frequency and duration are flexible. You retain the autonomy to terminate sessions at any time without providing a reason, ensuring you remain in control of your counselling journey.

Payment/Cancellation Policy:

Payment will be invoiced and must be settled before each session. Life can be unpredictable, and I understand the need for flexibility. If you need to reschedule or cancel, your payment can be applied to your next session. Refunds are available with more than 24 hours' notice.

Record Keeping:

I maintain notes during and after sessions to track your progress and discussions. These notes are securely stored and can be made available for your review upon request. Your counselling records will be securely retained for 7 years from the date of your last contact with Your Story Counselling.

Email/Telephone Contact:

Email or telephone communication will be limited to practical arrangements only. No counselling via telephone or email, unless specific arrangements have been made for an online session. In case of emergencies between sessions, please contact the appropriate emergency service. For life-threatening situations, dial 000.

Ending Counselling:

The conclusion of counselling ideally occurs through mutual agreement, but you have the right to terminate at any time.
